Coach Hill grew up in Arlington, TX, and has been a lifelong Texas Rangers fan. While he loved playing sports, Coach Hill started to turn from them because of coaching, especially in high school. A defining moment came when his high school basketball coach, who also taught AP Government, compared a bad call by referees to “what the boys in Vietnam went through.” That experience opened his eyes to how much coaching influences whether kids embrace or walk away from sports.
Now in his seventh season as a head baseball coach, Coach Hill has led winning teams every year, including FHLL AAA and Minors Championships. His coaching philosophy centers on three key principles:
Helping each player recognize and develop their potential.
Emphasizing teamwork as the foundation of success.
Building confidence and perseverance that extend beyond the field.
His ultimate goal is for players to enjoy baseball while developing character traits that will serve them throughout life.

Coach Mike was born on Long Island, NY and is a lifelong Mets fan. (If that doesn’t make you feel sorry for him, he also roots for the Jets.) He was captain of the baseball team at Williams College, where he was a left-handed pitcher.
Mike coached his three older kids at Central Springfield Little League, and now coaches his youngest son Chandler for FHLL and the Mavericks. He loves coaching the great game of baseball, and his goal is to inspire a love for the game in the kids he coaches. Mike strongly believes in showing confidence in kids, and that kids will in turn internalize that confidence. That’s why he believes that the four most important words in youth sports are “You can do it.”
A stickler for baseball fundamentals, Mike is especially concerned with proper throwing mechanics. He wants to teach kids, especially young pitchers, to throw properly - with an easy, stress-free motion.
Mike has been a lobbyist for more than 20 years. He and his wife Harmony have lived with their family in the Fort Hunt area since 2013.
